At a dinner which marked the 50th anniversary of the founding
of the AMSRS; Philip Mitchell-Taverner was appointed a Fellow
of the Society. Philip has spent 40 years as a practising researcher.
“I am most proud of helping to train many of today’s
research industry leaders” he said. “Indeed at Taverner
I like to think we are not just proving excellent and insightful
research for our clients but we are assisting more and more young
researchers to become ‘heroes’ within the organisation
and the industry”. Philip looks forward to helping even
more Taverner researchers become the best they can be and assisting
with the development of the research industry as an active member
and sponsor of the Society. Photo Right: Philip Mitchell-Taverner,

| It may have something to do with developing
a new young team of researchers – but, Taverner had no trouble
fielding its own version of the Awesome Foursome – at the
JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge. Held on November 9 in Sydney
– the 5.6 kilometre run through Centennial Park is seen
as the first of the 2006 series of Corporate Challenges held in
16 cities throughout the world by JP Morgan Chase. The Taverner
Team completed the course in a highly respectable 26m:30sec. Gerry
Guinan said “the race was a fantastic event and it turned
out to be a rather unique way of catching up with some old and
new clients”. Rumours are strong that the Taverner Awesome
Foursome is suggesting that Philip might like to sponsor them
in some of the 16 events coming up in the New Year. |

| Transport Research has been a core
activity for Taverner research since its inception. Therefore
the opportunity to sponsor the 28th Australasian Transport Research
Forum held in Sydney in September was readily accepted by Philip
Mitchell-Taverner. “With more than 200 transport researchers
and practitioners from Australasia and beyond, the forum proved
to be a very ‘passionate’ affair” said Connie
Jansen, Senior Research Director for Taverner’s social and
government division. The key issue of reducing damage to the environment
by restricting private vehicles while increasing the efficiency
and effectiveness of public transport took centre stage. |
